Erectile Dysfunction
Erectile dysfunction can be defined as a condition where a man faces
inability in achieving and maintaining a proper erection which is required
for sexual activity. The degree to which a man faces erectile dysfunction
varies and does not remain the same. There are cases reported of chronic,
complete and brief erectile dysfunction which is also referred to as impotence.
Erectile dysfunction is
treatable and is not inevitable.
The procedure which leads to an erection
There are two chambers which are situated in the erectile organ, called
the corpora cavernosa which cover the length of the erectile organ. The
chambers present are filled with spongy tissues and are surrounded by
a membrane called tunica albuginea. Urethra which is a channel for the
urine to pass runs under the corpora cavernosa. Erection begins along
with mental stimulation. Muscles present in the corpora cavernosa start
relaxing when impulses are reached from brain to local nerves which allow
blood flow and helps to attain an erection.
